Columbia University's simmering tensions with Harlem residents over its plan to build a new, 17-acre campus in Manhattanville came to a boil last week when a rowdy, standing-room-only crowd armed with signs and maracas packed into a hearing on the school's 197-C development plan, developed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Clintonisms

March 21, 2008

I'd like to recommend a new book from a friend of mine, Julia Gorin. Julia is hilarious. Here is an example from Clintonisms, a collection of Bill and Hillary's musings, along with Julia's commentary:

"If Bill Clinton was the first black president, would that make Hillary Clinton the second black president? Or is Bill Clinton a self-loathing brother who married a white woman and is a traitor to his race?"

Read the whole thing.

Contradiction (A New Fragrance from Hillary Clinton)

March 9, 2008

If Clinton has "serious questions" about Obama and finds him inexperienced and unprepared to be president, it seems odd that she keeps offering him the second spot on the ticket. It also seems odd that no one has confronted her with the contradiction. UPDATE: HuffPo had the same thought.

Kellogg's Questionable Commercial

Feb 26, 2008

The new Kellogg's ad claims that Frosted Mini-Wheats "improve [kids'] attentiveness up to 20 percent." But compared to what? Is 20 percent more attentiveness even noticeable on an inattentive person? How would Kellogg's measure this?

"Solutions"

Feb 20, 2008

Is Mrs. Clinton in the solutions business? Obama has sponsored one bill that became law. Clinton has sponsored two. She has sponsored hundreds more that failed, and a lot of those have been trivial. One - the FEPA - was meant to keep children safe from lewd content in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and other games.

I Prefer Obama to Clinton

Feb 19, 2008

Obama talks about working with Republicans. Clinton talks about beating them. Obama talks about hope. Clinton talks about false hope. Clinton has run one of the most depressing campaigns of all time. If elected, she could not unite us. Obama could. I am supporting Barack Obama in the Democrat contest.
